A MILITARY funeral took place yesterday, the deceased being a private in the 50th Regiment, named James Paish. The ceremony was conducted in the usual way, and attracted a considerable number of spectators. The procession started from the barracks about 5 o'clock p.m., the Volunteer Band watch formed part of it playing the "Dead March" as it slowly moved along. All the detachment that could be spared attended, commanded by Captain Eden. The deceased had been about four years in the regiment and had always been a sober, steady man. The cause of his death was dropsy.
