A young Church of England clergyman is thus recorded : “Jesu Mercy. In memory of the departed John Brakenridge, M.A. of Christ's College, Cambridge, Clerk in Holy Orders. Died March 20, 1861, aged 31.” He was one of the many young men who have come out to Queensland in that advanced stage of consumption which no climate can cure.
