Mr. Samuel Hodge, a practical builder, who has lately arrived in this colony, has erected a very excellent specimen of dwelling-house on the brow of the hill immediately in the rear of Dr. Fullerton's residence; the site is well chosen, being one of the most conspicuous positions in the city, and the view therefrom of North Brisbane, Kangaroo Point, and both reaches of the river for miles in extent, is very beautiful ; the prospect from the rear is also of great extent and some beauty, commanding the entire of Fortitude Valley quite out to Breakfast Creek. The house itself is built of red brick, ornamentally pointed in a manner that gives much lightness of effect, and relieves the eye. The roof will be of slate ; a verandah and balcony, 6 feet wide, will project in front of the house, which will contain ten rooms, and which has been nearly finished in about three weeks. Many other improvements have been made by Mr. Hodge, upon the ordinary style of dwelling houses which will be best understood by a personal inspection.
